Members Grappling Coach Posted June 7, 2013 Members Posted June 7, 2013 Has anyone been catching any bluegill yet. Last year we were catching lots of big ones on points near the dam weeks before now.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 7, 2013 Root Admin Posted June 7, 2013 I've hit some points close to the dam twice this week with fair results. I haven't found the right depth yet I guess. Using worms and fishing 15 to 30 feet deep. Catching smallies and channel. Had 10 the other day but only 1 yesterday, fishing 2 hours from 3-5 pm. Stayed in the Moonshine area. I know everything is still behind by a week or so and it's only June 7th.
Pepe Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 They have been catching them pretty well off of our dock. A guy here who runs a trotline uses them for bait and he catches what he needs pretty quick with live worms.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 7, 2013 Root Admin Posted June 7, 2013 The ones we're wanting are big 'uns... too big for trot lines. My son Caleb with one we caught last week.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 7, 2013 Root Admin Posted June 7, 2013 Talked to Jeremy Rasnick (ranger for the Corp and native to Branson). Said the water temp needs to be 80 for them to get good. Normally it's good most of June into July but water is much cooler than normal.
