Well, I had good and bad. I was at the pit on the far west end that is downhill from the parking lot.

First the good. I took my float tube out for the second time. I wasn't nailing them, but they kept coming regular enough to keep my interest. I caught three on a black buzzbait, three on Rapala, one on a purple worm off some of the only wood in the pit, none on hulu popper (sucks). I also caught three ok bluegill and one crappie on a smaller silver crankbait while "trolling" with feet power. On the bass, I had only one decent "keeper" size, and the rest were in the half to one pound size. I really am liking this tube fishing. It is good exercise and gets me close to where I want to be.

The bad. The access to this pit is at the bottom of a 40 foot trail on a 30 degree angle. Anyway all that washout has collected into soft black mud at the takeout. Getting out wasn't a big deal, but I got stuck in the mud in the way in, lost my balanced, caught the end of my fin, put all my weight on it, and snape. There is thirty bucks down the tube. I think next fins will be soft flippers. I still need to figure out a good way to get in and out of the water without having thick boats on my feet. Any suggestions?

In my younger years (1972 - 1980) I fished often from a tube. I found flippers to be difficult and switched to the step in, strap on, side foot folding paddles.

Funny story, had a party at the house. I was telling my buddy about the issue, and he said he had an old pair they used on a vacation in Hawaii. At the same time, my wife offered up a bathing suit to his daughter that didn't fit my girl. So... SWAP. Life is good sometimes.
