shockley32 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Never fished for walleye on Pomme - always head to Stockton - however decided to give it a go last night. Trolled cranks, bandit 300's in shad colors, across a flat. Caught 3 walleyes (15.5", 18:5", 21") in 30 minutes and lost another. My batteries were weak and couldn't troll anymore, tried with big motor but 200 hp doesn't troll very well. Decided to hit some piles for crappie - had a blast as they are loaded up on the brush! Planning on trying the walleye a little more. What's your favorite cranks? Colors? Brad Have your visited Limitville lately?
Members Muskie Bob Posted June 17, 2013 Members Posted June 17, 2013 white wiggle wart.......has always been good on Pomme de Terre. Cabela's Fisherman Series Walleye Runners (4 3/4") in silver with black back or fire tiger.
shockley32 Posted June 17, 2013 Author Posted June 17, 2013 Thanks! I'll give them a go. Brad Have your visited Limitville lately?
MOPanfisher Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Despite the fact that there are no walleye in Pomme, continue to fish Stockton for them, my favorite lure is a Rapala Shad Rap, or Minnow Rap. Colors vary from Clown, to Hot Steel, to Bluegill. Hit the conditions right and they will pound a crankbait, and occasionally a muskie will take one away. But again there are NOT any in Pomm
shockley32 Posted June 17, 2013 Author Posted June 17, 2013 Thanks MOPanfisher! People always complain to me about the lack of crappie in Pomme - I normally just say your right, stay away, you'll find more fish in Truman or LOZ! Brad Have your visited Limitville lately?
MOPanfisher Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 ABsolutely right, all the crappie in Pomme are either stunted or dead, nothing left but drum and muskie. With the lack of fishing pressure this spring on pomme there should be a LOT of big crappie waiting for a summer or fall fisherman to sack them up. While I haven't gotten into it yet, a buddy of mine does the trolling cranks for crappie thing, and says it is an amazing way to stack up some big crappie in a hurry. You just don't get the "Thunk" of a big crappie hit, which I am sort of addicted to.
shockley32 Posted June 18, 2013 Author Posted June 18, 2013 I have very limited experience trolling cranks - it's not really my thing, however from time to time it is enjoyable. I would like to learn more about it to expand my horizons. It is a good way to put people on fish who have a hard time feeling or seeing the bite. My personal favorite way to catch crappie is one rod, one jig - just love the thump! Brad Have your visited Limitville lately?
MOPanfisher Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 I live for that "thump", part of the reason I like braided line, the thump is even more pronounced. Oh man I want to go fishing so bad right now I can't stand it.
ten_scoach Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 How deep we're you when trolling when you picked up the eyes?
ten_scoach Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Also, generally speaking, what depth brush were you doing best? Thanks
