Members CDC Posted June 17, 2013 Members Posted June 17, 2013 Floated Big Sugar on Saturday with a couple of friends. Put in at Deep Ford and floated down to Gracie's. Fishing was a little slow to start but around 1:00 a front started to move in and it picked up a little. Caught most of the fish on a crawdad colored fines worm. Mostly small fish...a few in the 13 to 14 inch range. Pulled a nice 18 incher out of a long fairly shallow stretch about a mile below Craig 0' Lee. Ended up with 14 in the boat for myself, 12 for my canoe partner and my buddy int he other boat pulled in 20.

I was over in Rocky Comfort and it poured, but when I got over to Longview it was dry as could be. chub minnow Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 We did Big Rock to Sugar Island the same day and were able to pull several nice ones up from under all the aluminum going down the river. Pulled out right when it started pouring @ 5:30. 5-6 fish in about 20 minutes of total fishing just below Big Rock park. The wife caught one nicer, 14"-15", tiger striped smallie and I landed a fat goggle eye in the same hole. Bitsy tubes and the Ned rig accounted for all fish. LOTS of people out enjoying the river. Everyone was really respectful and friendly and seemed to be cleaning up after themselves. Good to see.

Minnow: All of the people we ran across were also very friendly. That is one of the reasons I tend to like Sugar creek over Elk River. Seems that Elk River gets the rowdy crowd....
