troutchaser Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 I want to give a positive testimonial for Jim and Plateau Fly Shop in Springfield. I've enjoyed spending money with these guys over the past several months, and this weekend they really came through for me. A couple of weeks ago, I dropped my Redington CD 5/6 reel on the asphalt and bent the foot enough that it wasn't possible to attach it to the rod until it was repaired. I tried finding a replacement foot on my own, but no one had the part, because the reel is an older model. I called Jim and cried about it, expecting him to tell me he would gladly sell me a new reel. Instead, he said, "let me see what I can do." Less than an hour later, he called and said he found someone who had the replacement part I needed, it would be mailed to the shop, and he would call me when it arrived. He called me on Saturday, I picked up the part yesterday, and replaced the broken foot last night. The price was very reasonable (VERY reasonable, wink, wink, nudge, nudge). My favorite reel is back in action, and Plateau Fly Shop deserves big kudos for their top notch customer service. Paul Rone
Lancer09 Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Jim and everyone out there are a class act. The guys are genuine and passionate about what they do. Through work I have worked with them a little bit and it was nothing but a pleasure. Get put there sometime if you haven't been yet. This is one of those actually really good stores that I think should make it, if not thrive.
Buzz Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I stop in there every time I'm in Springfield. Great shop and great people. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
Brian Wise Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 GREAT shop. I stop by every time I am in Springfield. My Youtube Channel
Lancer09 Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Plateau had a Christmas party/fundraiser this evening. I won this badass umpqua boat box full of flies.
BilletHead Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Good job Lancer for the win! I recognize some of the flys in the box. I tied the epoxy minnows yesterday. I too am really glad to have the shop here. Most of all I am glad it is far enough from home or I would soon become one of those pests who would be there hanging around every day, BlletHead "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" Lancer09 Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Those epoxy minnows are incredible. I'll be fishing some of those flies within the week now!
flyrodman Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Plateau had a Christmas party/fundraiser this evening. I won this badass umpqua boat box full of flies. So that was you! Finally I can put a face to a name. I tied the Cheech Leeches on the bottom left corner. Congrats! Luke Walz
Lancer09 Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Those are some sweet, sweet flies. I was going to fishing today but decided I'm Tuesday instead. I'll see what I can do to get a picture of one of them stuck in a fishes mouth. I snagged a new rod today that could use some good juju.
flyrodman Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 I would love to see some of those flies in some fishes mouths. Luke Walz
