Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted November 25, 2006 Root Admin Posted November 25, 2006 Saturday, January 13, 2007 We are going to offer a free rod building / fly tying class featuring Rolan Duffield. Rolan is retired from the Hallmark Company, KC. He has fly fished Taneycomo since the 60's so you know he can tie a great scud. He has also been building his own fly rods for many years. We've had some requests for a rod building class on the forum. Hopefully we'll have a good turnout. Rod Building Class will be held from 11 am to 2 pm in unit #1 at Lilleys' Landing. No materials required. Rolan will go over the basics- how to choose the right blank, hardware and materials, and what to look for when starting. He may add a comment or two to this topic. Of course, one can't build a rod in a day so we won't be actually building any rods. The Fly Tying Class will be held from 7 to 9 pm that evening in unit #1. Rolan will tie his favorite - the Peppy Scud. I can personally attest to the hundreds if not thousands of trout he's caught on this fly over the years. It's not a fly-by-night pattern. All classes are free, first-come. We will limit each class to 8 people. If you're from out of town, see http://lilleyslanding.com for lodging. Note- we will fill up for this weekend so advanced reservations are encouraged.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted November 25, 2006 Author Root Admin Posted November 25, 2006 This is a separate class from Jeremy's. Jeremy's class will continue to meet on Tuesday's at 7 pm.
Danoinark Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 I'd like to attend the fly tying class. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"

Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted November 26, 2006 Author Root Admin Posted November 26, 2006 I guess just reply to the post. It's going to be pretty informal.
Greg Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 In that case I think I'll come to both the tying and rod-building class. Will you be around that day? I'd like to say hi.
