I am new to fishing Table Rock and had some difficulty with summer patterns. I got a guide for my birthday to answer some questions and give advice for the techniques I was struggling with. I ended up hiring Captain Mike Webb with Webb's Guide service. It was a recommendation from a co-worker and he is sponsored by my company (O'Reilly Auto Parts) so I figured it would be a good choice. I was not disappointed!

First let me say a few words about Mike. He is a great teacher and makes it look easy which is the sign of a true expert. He didn't fish at all himself. He only kept his attention on me and the graph to locate fish and talk about why he made decisions on lure choices, location, etc. The man really knows his stuff.

We started the day at Kimberling Inn. Right away we hit some schooling fish right near the ramp. We threw an inline spinner for a few minutes but they soon moved on and so did we.

Next we hit a couple points near the Kimberling City area. We threw some tubes and shakey heads for a bit. He explained why the points worked and gave lots of pointers for the lures.

Next we hit a boat dock for just a couple minutes. He said he doesn't fish docs much but they can be productive so he showed me some methods I could use on my own time if I would like to later. We threw jigging spoons and inline spinners around the docks.

We then made a quick trip to the Indian Point area. In his boat it took no time at all to reach that side of the lake. We soon spotted quite a top water frenzy. The fish were moving around very fast. We tried wake baits, Pop R's and Spooks but couldn't seem to catch up to them. We chased them around a bit but they were moving all over.

Finally we began the drop shot. Mike really excels at deep water drop-shotting. He really took time to show me graph tips and boy did we have fun. We caught the majority of fish for the day on the drop shot. Nearly all fish caught were chunks. Really nice fish!

The trip really solidified the techniques I have been learning about and feel I can take what I learned and explore the lake on my own. What a great time!
