Feathers and Fins Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 I have been slacking in the Striper Reports as I have been heavily targeting Walleye and Crappie. I had a Hot tip get called in this morning and after seeing the Fleet Thursday I felt it was time to get back to my roots. Hate to say it but I picked up 3 pounds of Striper Minnows at Hook,Line and Sinker and headed out but I noticed a Walleye Rock I love to fish was vacant of any boats and it was quiet well quiet for 12 noon! So I pulled out the Ultralight and dropped a medium size bait down. No takers but I hadn't drifted 20 feet off the rock and the poor rod went way bendo. 20 minutes later and I see a bruiser striper at the end of the poor rod and its 8lb test. ( I had thought catfish at first as I do pull big flatheads off the rock ) another 10 minutes and in the Net it went and on the scale 20lbs 7 ounces! I was not going to be outclassed again so out came the big guns and on to the original target. 15 more stripers added to the collection average size 12 lbss but did get another 19 lb fish. They all came between Noon and 4pm in 20 to 25 fow. They are between points 5 and 6 currently. So if you are Brave enough to face the crowds and heat go get some minnows and get at them. Good Luck https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
nathanhooper Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 That's for sure a hot tip. Seems like all the fish are down that way, at least that's what I am hearing from guys I know now. Guys up my way driving down to fish in that area. It's hard to think that all the fish are congregated up there. What makes it unique?
Feathers and Fins Posted July 6, 2013 Author Posted July 6, 2013 SHAD and lots of them. They are just like Me, I will follow the smell to a buffet https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
fisherofmen11 Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Where is point 5 and 6? I sort of know but not exactly.

nathanhooper Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 That makes sense, a lot actually. Curious though, werer you seeing these fish on sonar around the rock? Or did you just fish the rock because you know that it usually produces?
Feathers and Fins Posted July 7, 2013 Author Posted July 7, 2013 I fish the rocks because I know they produce, When I fish the rock I am watching the sonar close as im trying to put the bait in the crevices, loose a lot of terminal gear doing it but it can produce some very good fish. I watched the marks but actually was paying more attention to depth and structure. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
nathanhooper Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Curiousity here, talked to a guy who likes to troll for stripes. He went out last night, dam area. When I asked what depth he was going he said he was marking a lot of fish at 30'. He is not new to stripes, and although he did not catch anything I have to think he was pretty confident that they were stripes. Interesting that I was seeing those kind of arches at the same depth, just in another area not far from where he was. So what depth were you pulling them from? I'm now very curious if fish reside at different depths in the different parts of the lake. So much to learn...
Feathers and Fins Posted July 7, 2013 Author Posted July 7, 2013 20 to 25 fow for mine, but they do move up and down in the water column. I have caught them on the surface in the morning and then down to 50 and 60fow in a few hours. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
fisherofmen11 Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Thanks F&F for the MAP. That will help. I am going to go out this afternoon for some trolling action and then get some minnows for a little night action depending on how late I can stay out.
