JohnF52 Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Where is the best area now to throw a shad net for catfish bait?
wc1063 Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 I'm gonna have to print this out and carry with me when I go fishing from now on!!
Feathers and Fins Posted July 14, 2013 Author Posted July 14, 2013 John right now I don't think there is one, most of the shad I am seeing and marking is in open water that's why im just buying bait. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Stump bumper Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Catfish bait can be small bluegill, so I would just chum up an area at the launch, let them come in and make the first cast count. There seems to always be lots of 2-3 in sunfish in Prairie Creek on the launch due the boats stirring up the bottom. If you catch any sunfish 4in or bigger in your net you must throw them back, only 4in sunfish caught on a hook can be used for bait.
JohnF52 Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Last evening I caught some small bluegill on hook and line and used them on pool noodle jugs and one rod. Also used some punch bait. Caught nothing. Only one pull down on the punch bait. This was between Beavorama and Neills Bluff. Water temp was 85. Think I won't go again until after a substantial rain.
