Members greenwoodmo Posted November 27, 2006 Members Posted November 27, 2006 Just picked up and Eagle Fishmark 480 this weekend. I know its already to late but I'm looking for people's thoughts. Was is a good purchase? How do you like yours? Any experiences? Problems?
dwiebenga Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 I like my unit. It picks up structure well. I am still playing with the sensitivity to get it going the way I want, but no problems here. It was well worth the money I paid for the unit.
timsfly Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 I bought a 480 last year, and it has worked great so far, it really is easy to use. Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop
Members fishin Posted December 6, 2006 Members Posted December 6, 2006 I have a lot of signal drop out at higher speeds 40+ mph on my boat which requires shutting the unit down and restarting to reset it. Other than that it functions really well for the money.
Forsythian Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 I've heard that the Eagles are near equivalent to Lowrance... a tad lower in amperage but equal in pixels and quite a bit more affordable... I'd sure like to toss my Humminbird in the lake and get the 480! Cenosillicaphobiac
dwiebenga Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 I need some help getting my settings correct. I guess in general, what do YOUR setting look like. I want to get better "fish arches". Is this possible. Dave
Members fishin'chemteacher Posted March 20, 2007 Members Posted March 20, 2007 There is a fishmark 480 emulator that you can download and run on your computer for some practice with the controls and settings. Kind of neat to play with in the off season. Go to the eagle website www.eaglegps.com/Products/Sonar/FishMark480.htm and find the emulator on the left side. I too have problems in the arch mode getting good readings have to turn down sensitivity too much. Seems to work in fish symbol mode better but that really cuts the sensitivity down. If you find the solution let me know. Good fishing
Members bojack Posted March 21, 2007 Members Posted March 21, 2007 fishin: i've got a eagle 480 and it also did the same thing~~at speeds over 40 it would give me false readings i contacted the mfg. and they were no help. finally i looked at the transducer and found out it was NOT secure, that when i hit higher speeds it would move and give me false readings. i tighten the bolts after making sure it was level and i haven't had any problems with it since. at my top speed of 50mph it gives the correct readings. hope that helps. good luck. bojack
