I currently live in Texas and will be retiring in a couple years. I always thought I would move to a Texas lake, but with low water levels that isn't a very good option going forward in Texas.

I am going to visit Beaver Lake next week for the first time. I like to fish for white bass and stripers. My question is that if you were going to have a lake front home on Beaver Lake and wanted white bass / stripers....what would be the best area of the lake?

Would you prefer to be near the dam, mid lake or lower river areas?

Any help is appreciated.....we are very excited about exploring the area.

I like the dam end of the lake, very scenic IMO, and less developed overall. There's stripers year round somewhere in that area by the dam, white bass are better lower lake.

But if you want to be closer to the stores, malls and urban stuff, Rogers is not a bad area, good fishing there also for whites and stripers. And it's centrally located, so if you don't mind a bit of a boat ride you can go up one of the river arms, or go up towards the dam.

Seems like we read a lot of posts here about stripers in the Rocky Branch area. And from there, you can easily run to the dam or down to the Prarire Creek area where stripers are also commonly caught.

The Starkey / Honey Creek area is nice and not too far a drive to Eureka Springs. I would build a house there and live in it during the summer when the stripers are in the neighborhood. Then during the fall, I would move to the other house I would build In Avoca where I would fish the Prairie Creek area all fall and winter and be close to Rogers. Are two houses not an option? I could help by staying in the other house for you and keeping it up while you are away.

You might want to take a look at Bull Shoals also. They just started stocking stripers again so the striper fishing won't be as good as Beaver, but from what I'm told it's not nearly as busy a lake as far as pleasure boats like Beaver is. Norfork isn't too far away from Bull (Norfork has stripers) and there's the White river tailwater below Bull Shoals dam which has excellent trout fishing if you're in to that.
