Members coach Posted November 28, 2006 Members Posted November 28, 2006 Hello: A good buddy and I, are thinking of fly fishing the White/Norfolk. I know it is a loaded question. But we are considering a low budget affair. Where to stay? Fishing opportunities? A broad question...got to start somewhere. Feedback is appreciated from angler's who know the situation. Thanks in advance, Noah Fountain
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted November 28, 2006 Root Admin Posted November 28, 2006 There's plenty of motels in Mtn Home for about $60 and up. There's a motel in Bull Shoals and I think there's one in Midway or Gassville. ?? Someone will have to help me with those. And there's camping- is the state park open in the winter below BS dam? In other words, there's plenty of places to stay around both sites.
Danoinark Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 There is a nice place in Cotter, the White Sands Motel and they have a great cafe. Don't miss the homemade chicken and dumplings on Thursdays. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
RiverRunner Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Some friends of mine operate a boat dock that has a small campground with a hot shower and electrical outlets near Calico Rock, AR on the White. They are very reasonable as far as prices are concerned. However, fly-fishing can be iffy due to upstream water releases at Bull Shoals and Norfork, but it is doable, esp in extended low water periods that occur from time to time. Send me a PM if you want contact info.
Gary Lange Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 A Bedroom with Bath which has two beds is only $90.00 at Gaston's White River Resort on the White River below Bull Shoals Dam. This is a great place to stay and they have an excellent Restaurant also. Respect your Environment and others right to use it!
Members coach Posted November 30, 2006 Author Members Posted November 30, 2006 Thanks Gary! Anything you care to add about the fishing would appreciated! Thanks Dano! I'm very partial to fried chicken. Noah
