White Bass Help

hey guys im pretty new here and heard about these fish called white bass can anyone tell me how to catch these fish lures or worms those kind of things

I've always had the best luck with whites by looking for bigger coves with the wind blowing into them. That schools the shad up and keeps them in the cove. I usually throw cranks or rooster tails through the schools of shad and then hang on. If you see them surfacing pop-r's, chug bugs and spook jr's work we'll too.

i like to work the flats with the wind blowing into the bank but i usually only fish for whites in the spring and fall. i love to fish the flats at the old road bed at CC highway in the fall. i usually do the best on tubes and grubs and its always nice to pick up that bonus walleye or crappie up there too.

I use a 1/4 oz rooster tail on a 6'6" med light spinning rod with 6 lb test. Usually just keep the boat near the schools and cast all around and through the school. Color usually doesn't matter on the rooster tails but I usually use the solid silver with silver blade. Those bigger whites are a blast on the light tackle and line.

The best Rooster Tail that I have ever used is called the Vibric Rooster Tail kind of hard to find but Bass Pro does carry them sometimes. It has a offset body and inline blade the offset body keeps the lure from twisting the line like normal Rooster tails. 1/4 oz white works best for me sometimes chartreuse a close second.

When you can find them it's non stop action fun, fun, fun. Great for kids and family too.

shaker im glad you brought up the vibrac rooster tails i havent been able to find them for years. i used to get them at wally world. my favorite color is the red and white or the grey. blue when im throwing a rooster tail i'll count it down to the depth i want the i give the rod tip it little snap to get the blade turning then just a steady retrieve and hang on to your rod when your in a school of whites, theyre a blast to catch

Whites are my favorite fish to catch. I too, fish them in the spring and fall. If I find one in the summer under lights...bonus. I usually throw either a white rooster tail (or Chartruese - depending on clarity), or a 3/16-1/4oz lipless crank bait. I find that if it is sunny, chrome cotton cordell is dyno-mite! If it is overcast or real stained water, a chartruese sexy shad. H2O's (Academy house brand) make a great lipless in all the right colors, and so does XCalibur. This year, I am going to throw a Flash Mob Jr, Alabama rig, in the fall. I KILLED IT this spring with that, using 4" Berkley Havoc Subwoofers on 1/8 oz pro jigs, and using large willow blades on 2/5 of the arms. It was the most fun white bass fishing I have ever experienced...I caught my limit in less than 45 mins on multiple occassions this spring...it has to work in the fall too, right?

In the fall, wind blown banks/coves are your best bet. Find the shad, find the whites....Tight Lines!
