huntest Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Champ How are you rigging that tube or beaver weedless? The way I rig a tube leaves a good deal of the hook exposed...
Rodmaker Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 I too am heading down to the rock on wednesday for 10 days. Glad to see this thread as I was going to start the same one this weekend. Think the drop shot will still work or will the cooler high water keep them up in the bushes. Staying at a place around point 11up the james. The James must be pretty stained(or muddy) by now.
Rodmaker Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 By the way, God bless all you locals down there. I hope most of you survived the flooding okay. The extended forcast looks like you may finally start to dry out.
Members pbrussell Posted August 10, 2013 Author Members Posted August 10, 2013 Too much water is not an issue. In 2011 I believe the water got up to 936' and I was catching Bass in my cedar trees ( that USE to be in my yard).. advise ? I would NOT get up on plane if I were you ! You should still have plently of early fun where the rocks meet the bushes !!! Let us know how you made out !!! ( with pictures hopefully) Not getting up one plane sounds like it would take forever to get anywhere....
Champ188 Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Huntest, For flipping, I rig both my tube and beaver Texas style, or Tex-posed I should say. The new grip-pin hooks like Mustad and Trokar are offering with bait keepers just below the eye work great. As long as you don't go bigger than 4/0, you shouldn't have a problem of the hook being longer than the bait. Here's a link to the hooks I'm talking about ... http://www.cabelas.com/product/TroKar-TK125-Magworm-Baitpin-Hook/1307343.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dtrokar%26x%3D0%26y%3D0%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts&Ntt=trokar&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products Apologies to you BPS faithful out there ... it's a Cabela's link.
