Members Tangamanga Posted August 13, 2013 Author Members Posted August 13, 2013 Thanks Nighthawk. You can count me in. I will be there for the next meeting. As I mentioned before, I want to make new friends and in the process learn to fish.
Members Chase Replogle Posted August 14, 2013 Members Posted August 14, 2013 A whole lot of fishermen, including myself, grew up fishing ponds. In fact, its still one of my favorite places to fish. Ponds are a great place to work on casting and you can catch a lot of fish. Do you have any family with a pond or friends? If not, Springfield Lake, as already mentioned, might be a good place to start. Stop by Bass Pro and pick up a couple of chartreuse rooster tails. They'll catch a whole range of fish. Throw it out and reel it in steady. Also, don't be afraid to watch other fisherman and ask questions. I have found most everyone you see on the water to be friendly. So, welcome to the Ozarks.
Members Tangamanga Posted August 14, 2013 Author Members Posted August 14, 2013 Chase, thank you for the advice. I will stop by and pick them up. I will have to go to Springfield Lake because I don't know anybody here in Missouri. Like I mentioned before I just moved from California and I don't have any friends here.

Members Tangamanga Posted September 3, 2013 Author Members Posted September 3, 2013 I finally went fishing this weekend. Went to a local pond in a city park. I didn't go to Fellows Lake or Springfield Lake because I didn't want to be intimidated and get discouraged. I can tell you that I had the best luck with night crawlers. I used some lures and spinners but had no luck. With the warms I got 5 fish. The best thing about all this is that I got the opportunity to try different things and practiced my casting technique. Thank you to all of you that gave me advice in this forum. No I can't wait to go and do it again and get better.
Members Wornica Posted September 5, 2013 Members Posted September 5, 2013 We have learned so much by joining the Missouri Trout Fishermen´s Association. It is a great group of people! Here is the link to their web page: http://mtfa-springfield.org/
Members Tangamanga Posted September 6, 2013 Author Members Posted September 6, 2013 Thank you for the tip. But it seems that they are focused on fly fishing, or am I wrong?
