Coosa Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Hello everyone. My bother, a friend, I are going to do a 3 day 2 night float fishing the gasconade river from October 2-4. We are from Linn, MO. The plan is to have a relative drop us off at riddle bridge and leave a vehicle at mile 154.2. (Old whitehouse ferry site, end of cr 8500). I know leaving a vehicle anywhere for 3 days carries risk but was wondering if anyone could tell me if it would be a bad idea in that area as I have never been there. Also any insight to this section of river would be great. Gravel bars for camping, fish habitat...ect. Is this a good trip or should we be looking at a different section of river?
Coosa Posted September 5, 2013 Author Posted September 5, 2013 Also may have a small trailer since we will have 3 coosas. Putting 2 in back of the truck is enough. Never tried all three plus gear
Mitch f Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Well, you've chosen a good spot. It's hard to say whether the vehicles would be safe because I never leave one overnight. I know you could stay at Boiling Springs the first night....that might be the ticket "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Wayne SW/MO Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 I'm not familiar with the area, but in the past at other areas we have approached people close by and offered $10 if we could leave the vehicle there. My fishing buddy and I did this a half dozen times and aside from the walk to retrieve, it was painless. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Wayne SW/MO Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Our approach was "We will be glad to pay you to park our rig here" the response was generally, after the details of why and when, "Whats it worth to you?" or something like that. $10 for doing nothing generally worked for us. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
