Justin Spencer
Every spring we have the annual whinefest about the aluminum hatch ruining the fishing on the popular stretches of river during the summer. It looks like we have a couple weeks of mid-summer weather coming up and the crowds have now died down, so it is your time now! I can't speak for the rivers that are the closest to the big cities, but the NFoW should easily be enjoyable this weekend, and every other weekend from this point on. Since the fishing won't be the best in the heat of the day, leave early or wait until late and you will really have a good trip. It's still a little hot for me to want to be out fishing all day, but for those who enjoy dog day fishing without the crowds this is your time. Only about 37 weeks for you fishermen to get in your time before the rivers are once again taken over by the evil-doers! Terrierman
Funny thing. We were on NFOW last weekend and it was packed. But darn if somehow we were able to catch a few fish. But I agree, I prefer it a little quieter. Looked like Sunburst was full. Hope it went well for you.

It was a good weekend, and I think all the canoes are kind of like guys shuffling, they go through and kick up food for fish. I have caught lots of fish just after a big group of boats goes through a riffle. Fish are all used to canoes by now. Wayne SW/MO
Fish are all used to canoes by now. I think you are right and they do get used to it. The trick is to fish the breaks, early or late. I know that's easier to say then do and it does cut back on the time fishing is allowed. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman. OKFlyFisher44
Planning on coming down next weekend to see you guys Justin. I will call ya later in the week and see how the weekend is shaping up. If it looks to be busy, might sneak back over to the White for 1 last hopper trip. I miss the NFOW terribly....I am ready to be back.... Chance ...I'm haunted in my dreams of waters I have yet to fish and trout I have yet to catch... Chasing the Dream... jjtroutbum
Here now fishing was tuff but rewarding hard fighting bows and willing browns. Tuff to keep flies down but on the bottem equals bites. Seems fish never look up. Jon Joy ___________ "A jerk at one end of the line is enough." unknown author The Second Amendment was written for hunting tyrants not ducks.
