Was done at Rockford Beach today look at the Big and was wondering how it was to float/fish from Rockford to the Meramec.

Thinking about getting a fishing kayak so I can fish some of the smaller streams and ponds/lakes just some many places around here where the jon boat won't go when the water is low like it is now.

13 mile float from Rockford to Rt 66, or 9.5 mile to Twin River Bridge. I know of one dam at Byrnes Mill that you have to portage. I've hear people say some big smallmouth live in that stretch but they are few and far between.

I don't think there are any dams between Rockford Beach and the Meramec. Unsure of the river miles though.

It's not much of a dam anymore, and there's a chute on the left side of the river that you can usually pass it in. Definitely an obstacle though.

We are going to put in at Byrnes Mill next Sunday and float to the Twin River's bridge. We'll let you know how it goes.
