Members riverdoc Posted February 15, 2007 Members Posted February 15, 2007 Never fished it in the cold months. However, never .. ever .. had a problem catch'n fish in the Finley (Spring through Fall) Unbelievable frenzies on occations. Small mouth, large mouth, goggle eye . . . ! Fly rods . . you bet! I really think you can catch fish in the Finley with almost any bait. However, we may be missing something. Catfish! What do we/anyone know about catch'n catfish on the Finley? And . . what about eating the fish caught? Safe or not?
Flysmallie Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 I've seen these two older guys several times and they seem to do pretty good catching catfish out of the Finley. I've seen them keep a few out of the Linden area, and that area is a cesspool, but still holds a lot of fish. If you don't mind walking through all the trash (beer can, old diapers, etc..) to get to the river, you will be suprised at the fish that are there. Not a place to take your kids though.
Terry Beeson Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 With all the development around this area, I'm not sure ANY waters are safe to eat fish out of... vonreed Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 not to meantion the Ozark Sewer discharge, yuck. About 5 years ago I Went trapping down thru there and I didn't know where it was. There was a backwater with a "spring" coming out. It looked about 6 inches deep so I took off walking thru it and sunk in over my waist, luckily I had chestwaders on. It was a fine grey silty yucky mess, I was quite disgusted. Turns out it wasn't a spring, lol.
