I finally got an opportunity to get my May Vacation in, my April crappie fishing trip with my buddies Rick and Kevin and September fishing trip with my buddy Bob so now I am caught up.

I took the boat to Wappappello the first of the week. While on the boat ramp the brake pedal when all the way to the floor. The line from the proportional valve to the left front rusted through. Now I have put a boat in with no brakes, before, (you put it in Drive and hit the gas when you want to stop) but I would have to fix it before we left so under the truck I go. By now I had five shade tree mechanics and only four shade trees. I had a 12-inch piece of brake line with a flare on one end and a compression fitting. Two said replace the brake line using the compression fitting, and two said install the brake line on the proportional valve and crimp it shut. The fifth shade tree mechanic did not give a "darn" - that was Kevin. Now I saw many three legged dogs and they got around just fine so I went with three brakes and crimped the new line.

The fishing the first two days was tough. The fish were scattered and small. On the third day we managed to find some perfect crappie cover and caught a few all but one exactly 8-1/2 inch.

Later in the week Bob and I got to the NFOW for my first fly fishing adventure. That was a unique experience. I did manage to catch my first trout on a fly rod. No pictures -- I was not about to get my cell phone out standing in that water. I created another post on this, earlier.
