Love To Spend Some Time On Stockton

We pulled up a travel trailer from Arkansas Friday night and stayed in the state park. It was a dreary day Saturday but sure wanted to fish. I didn't have a way to pull my boat too so had to settle for fishing off the bank and courtesy docks at the ramps. I was surprised to catch a couple of smallies right off the bat. Caught a 17" smallie, had to release it since he took a long time to grow to that size. I am partial to smallies, especially since some lakes to our south have so few. Caught a couple of nice blacks as well, one a little over 15". Have to say that I didn't expect to pick up keepers from the bank, but sure has me interested in coming back with the boat sometime. What a good looking lake. I am used to tablerock and this lake just has a different look. Look forward to next trip.

You must have been at LOZ or Pomme...Stockton is a horrible lake to visit, very ugly. Tell all your friends!

one of the reasons I love Stockton lake is that it is a "Fishing Lake". When I go to Pomme (Especially last couple years), it always has tubers, skiers, and cruisers. Table Rock is the worst, boat traffis is insane.

For the most part, most everyone at Stockton is a fisherman/woman. And they understand/respect the unspoken rules of not flying by your boat within 10 yards at 60mph. They can see you fishing a bank and will go WAY down the bank, if not to another. (this all "most of the time" of course, there are always a$$holes out there)

I just hope that over time Stockton doesn't become a "party lake"...

I 100% agree bite. Your right most of the time everyone is respectful. the other lakes i always run into someone that will just fly by you but usually not at stockton, occasionally though. also in some parts of it,it's a good place to hunt but most of which are only accessable by boat
