Trevor K Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 I'll be down by Bennett Springs all next week for work and was thinking about doing some fishing. I've never been there before. Does anybody have any advice or tips on how to catch a few fish?
Jack Jones Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Midges are great. 18-22 size zebras. I also do well on cracklebacks near the dam. "Thanks to Mother Mercy, Thanks to Brother Wine, Another night is over and we're walking down the line" - David Mallett
Trevor K Posted October 20, 2013 Author Posted October 20, 2013 I'm planning to bring both the fly rod and spinning rod. I'll stick with whatever ends up being more productive

NoLuck Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Standard zebra midges and scuds under an indicator on the fly rod will work well. Wooly and a spinner or black and yellow marabou jigs on the spin outfit.
Wayne SW/MO Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 You can also visit Larry's, it's on the road leaving the park, or Weaver's, just east of the upper park entrance, and visit with them. They are shops that always have a finger on the pulse. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

laker67 Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 My advice would be to drive another 76 miles and go to montauk.
Trevor K Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 Well, just got back from the trip and did pretty good fishing. There were plenty of people, but also plenty of places to fish. Are the crowds usually smaller during the catch and release season or are they about the same?
