Is there a deer processor in the Branson and/or Forsyth area?

If not, does quartering and putting a deer in a large cooler before processing work good for anyone, and do you skin and quarter or quarter and leave skin on till the meat rest, and how many days on ice in the cooler?

Thanks for any info.

There's a guy west of WalMart super center in Ozark. That's the closest I know of.

I'd leave it hang before I'd put it in a cooler. Skin on.

Leave hang with skin on, if it gets too warm skin the deer quarter and put in cooler it will be fine. You can soak in water ice and salt also, good for bucks that might be gamey.

I process my own and leave hang for a week or so if weather permits, have a doe hanging in the barn that has been there 3 days, probably will process tomorrow so I don't get backed up.

All Star Processing in Blue Eye (417) 779-1718, he processes deer from Sept 15 until Jan 15. He also does taxidermy. My buddies and I have taken him dozens of deer and have been very happy with the quality and service. South on hwy 65, West on 86 about 10 miles, he is on the right.
