Brian Wise Posted November 20, 2013 Author Posted November 20, 2013 Brian what's with the "whiskers" and how does that thing fish? I assume it stays on top with a floater and would kind of rise and dive on a sinker? Great vid nice job. This is definitely a Musky fly if tied in the size in the video. But either way, it would HAVE to either be fished on VERY heavy tippet or with a swivel because the "Whiskers" make it spin like a top when it is being casted. Other than that it is pretty cool and on the surface the whiskers do move more water, add flash, and generally make for a cool looking fly. If fished below the surface, the sink-tip would have to be a mean one. T6+ and that is when you would have to really pay attention to exactly how long each whisker is so it doesn't spin in the water. I have used the flash-tied-to-heavy-mono-and-extended-on-the-tail technique before and actually really like it. It gives a completely different look to the fly and really swims cool. sean c Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I'm tying a ton of stuff for a friend who is heading to the amazon for a peacock bass trip in January I'm done with all the standard stuff and looking to add some fun flies just for the hell of it this fly looks like it would kill. I'm not sure how durable those "whiskers" will be but I'm guessing if push comes to shove he can always clip them off and still have a killer fly. Spinning shouldn't be a problem they will be using 40 lb tippet. Any trick to length of the whiskers? 25 lb mono okay?
Fishslayer88 Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Very cool! Your videos are pretty much what got me started and have really helped me a lot thank you for taking the time to make them.
XP 590 Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Agree- very cool "vise master"! Or is it "master of vices"? While I'm on a roll: What do you call a guy who's mastered the art of bait fishing? Looking forward to more of the series

They can be clipped off for sure. My Youtube Channel
