Members Nharris Posted November 26, 2013 Members Posted November 26, 2013 Was curious if anybody has had any luck here lately. Gonna be driving down Friday for a day of fishing
Members Corb90 Posted November 26, 2013 Members Posted November 26, 2013 Went yesterday morning. Only stayed about 2 hours because my hands almost froze off and I hate FF with gloves on. Caught 2, one dink and one pretty good size one. The bite has changed a lot in the past week to say the least. Went last Monday and caught 20 plus from about 10-4. They pretty much hit everything we threw, started out with a flash bugger under an indicator and then switched to dries. Griffiths gnat, EHC, Cracklebacks and even snagged a few on adams. My buddy was pulling BIG fish with a foam beetle which shocked me because its so late in the year. That was last week, this week it was either too cold so my technique lacked or the fish really weren't biting as much. Tried dries, nothing. Switched to a bugger, got about 5 hooked and landed 2.
Members Nharris Posted November 26, 2013 Author Members Posted November 26, 2013 Thanks for the info. I'm thinking I'm gonna give it a try on Friday. Gonna be using marabou jigs and some rooster tails with my ultra lite. Bringing the fly rod as well for some much needed practice. Do you know if your allowed to use crank baits on the river there since it's a red ribbon. Thinking about trying for some smollies as well.
Members Corb90 Posted November 28, 2013 Members Posted November 28, 2013 It's pretty cold for smallies. I've been multiple times in the last month, fished mostly streamers (which smallies love) and didn't see one. Water might just be too cold. As far as cranks go I'm pretty sure you can use whatever you want on the meramec itself. Also MS is perfect practice for a fly rod, they've got every kind of casting area (brush close behind and open casting spots) also it's an awesome place to practice mending and line control as well as line handling when you have a fish on. This is what keeps me driving the extra 30 past BSC every week but once i get better it won't be necessary.

Yes you can, but not in the park.
Members Nharris Posted November 29, 2013 Author Members Posted November 29, 2013 Thanks for the info. Was gonna give it a try today. Decided to wait til tomorrow for the slightly warmer weather. Hoping for a good day tomorrow. I'll post how I do here
Members Nharris Posted December 1, 2013 Author Members Posted December 1, 2013 Made it out to the spring Saturday. Got there right when the horn sounded. Mainly fished right at the right bend where the spring straightens. Ended up catching 2 fish one about 14 inches and the other a little smaller. Bigger fish came on a white and gold rooster tail with a gold blade. Other one was taken on a watermelon color pattern with gold blade. Fish were biting good earlier on and the bite really slowed down about noon. Both tails were 1/8. There were two fly fisherman that we're doing really good early on they were throwing there flies into a section that was holding 50 fish easily. I was just upstream from them. Good day all in all. Sen a few Eagles flying overhead early in the morning.
mic Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Awesome day. I was down in Alabama or I might have been there with you.
