I've got 2 pair of clips from Wally World. One gray and one brown, both are polarized. They work ok but do get scratched up pretty easy. The biggest problem is no side shields. I'm thinking about going to the Cacoon's but can't find any the fit over my glasses very well.

Out of curosity, what color does everyone prefer? I was using gray, but heard the amber or brown worked better overall. I tried both and think the amber are a little better.

Any thoughts?

I perfer a amber wrap style of sun glasses (a full framed but curved lens that extends to cover the peripheral vision also). I mosty buy the 15 to 20 dollar varities

The clip-ons are fine if you don't want to spend too much money and don't really need to sightfish too much. But I grew up in a place shere sightfishing was a religion and have hence worn a whole bunch of prescription polarised glasses for years

But if you are serious about sightfishing you will want to cut out more rear/side entry light, which bounces off your cheeckbones onto the rear of your lens.

Cocoons/Fitovers do that but, they aren';t exactly stylish and with a scone like mine I need all the help I can get ;) and I have problems with the fit/comfort level.

The best answer is to fit yourself with some decent prescription polaroids, that fit close to your face. But don't fall for the trendy teeny frames, get some decent 6base.

Now these don;t come cheap, Ive bought several pairs in the 200-300 range ove the years. But the Fisherman Eyewear line, which we sold for several years, came out last year with a $130 single vision prescription, and about $20 bucks more for the double.

Very good value, and good reports

Other brands worth looking at are Action Optics; Oakleys Ive always loved their stuff; Maui Jim; Aussie Spotters have a great rep; Kaenon are very good; and there are others. Just be aware that you won't get the same frame selection as those with regular vision.

Colors is always a common question as well I get asked a lot.

Darker colors like brown better for wide open rivers/lakes such as Taney

Places like roaring river where you have a lot of dappled light shadows go for amber etc.

If these colors do have some gold/yellow in the tint they will do better in low light.

Ive got some yellow polarised prescriptions that do allow you to see more ABOVE the water, but they don't do much with seeing subsurface, but handy making your way back to the car.

Trouble is they make me feel somewhat nauseous. But Ill put up with a lot to fish hard LOL

Cheers
