With Phil's permission, I'm posting this notice about some information we've put up about trout in MO. It's a KMZ file which maps every stream providing Coldwater Habitat in the state. Those streams which are managed as Trout Water are separately coded as Trout Parks, and Blue, Red, or White Ribbon streams. But ALL streams which the MO DNR lists as coldwater are mapped, not just the trout streams. This, in a sense, provides the "universe" of streams that might provide a "secret" trout stream. Most won't, but it gives you a starting place for exploration.

I hope you find it useful. You can load the KMZ into Google Earth and many mapping websites including, very usefully, The National Map.

Also, if you like fishing for wild trout and are planning a trip, WildTroutStreams is a great place to find info. My avatar photo, for example, is a pure strain Rio Grande Cutt that I caught in a NM stream I found using resources posted on this site. It required a two mile bushwhack over National Forest Land to get there, but it provided one of the experiences of my fishing life. There's coverage of virtually every state in the US that provides wild trout streams, and many native trout species.

Note, we're not a stream guide, per se. We don't tell you, "Go to this stream". Instead we provide comprehensive information and encourage you to explore.

Cool website, I just spent an hour cruising around. It really blows my mind to think of all those streams with all those trout. If I want to catch a trout it takes at least 1 hour to do so. Hmm....

Dennis Boatman- You may be on to something with the California fishing. Steelhead and trout all over according to the map. Man you are in for some serious exploring of some West Coast water.
