This is great. The fly fishing network and the "Head Guide" for somewhere is talking about shuffling like it is a great new idea that will revolutionize fly fishing.

Now, speaking from personal experience, and being ignorant of the facts and ettiquette of fishing at Taney, Robbie and I shuffled for days and did not catch a thing.

Now we did not know we were shuffling at the time. Maybe that is the problem. You see, we thought we were simply walking carefully on slick rocks so that we did not fall into the icey water and drown. That must be it.

You can't shuffle if you don't know that you are shuffling.

Maybe that's why all those guys down stream were just tearing it up and catching all those fish.

It is just a site put up to get people to click on adds. Best way to accomplish this is to put up contoversial topics or porn. And guess what? It works.

As far as I am concerned anyone who fishes while wading is shuffling because if one is walking in the water there is no way to not stir up the bottom. This is especially true, as LMW mentioned, if the footing is a bit precarious. Roaring River knows how to handle shuffling. I say there should be a law making all trout fishing areas like Roaring River. Let the signs go up. No wading by order of the MDC.

What if we all wore snow shoes on our wading boots. The footing would be great and the surface area would distribute our weight in such a way as to not disturb the river bottom.
