Members tkite Posted December 13, 2013 Members Posted December 13, 2013 Fishing Sunday was just wondering if the lake had froze at all
shockley32 Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Would like to know as well - plan on trying this week with the nice weather. Looks it is going to get bad again next weekend. Brad Have your visited Limitville lately?
MOPanfisher Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 I will try to get around the lake tomorrow (schedule permitting) and check the ramps. My suspicion is that there is not much ice at all. When it was really cold there might have been a little in protected places or if someone launched and the water froze on the ramp. I'll post up if I can get out there to check.
shockley32 Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Thanks! Have your visited Limitville lately?
MOPanfisher Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Had one of the Rangers check this morning. Some ice at PP bridge access and some at Bolivar Landing, from about mid ramp back into Stinking Creek, am betting that what there is around Bolivar Landing shrinks quickly this week. Leave an X on the bank so I can find the spots too!!
shockley32 Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Thanks! I'm hoping to get out before the week is over. Brad Have your visited Limitville lately?
Members Old Man River Posted December 23, 2013 Members Posted December 23, 2013 Any updates on ice at the ramps would be much appreciated. I am vacationing down there starting next weekend. Need to know weather to bring the boat or the 4 wheeler. Can't pull both. On a side note - we are catching crappies through the ice up here in the Des Moines area. Worth a day trip for those interested.
smbasser Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Was out there today. Ramp was fine, launched at hermitage. Water was 43 near the dam and stained. Fished for about 5 hours for bass. Not a single bite. Little miserable when I smoked em on Stockton last weekend
Members Conman64 Posted December 23, 2013 Members Posted December 23, 2013 smbasser, That does suck, sorry to hear it. Did you stay mostly by the dam? Throw mostly jerkbaits? I would have expected pretty good results yesterday. Was out there today. Ramp was fine, launched at hermitage. Water was 43 near the dam and stained. Fished for about 5 hours for bass. Not a single bite. Little miserable when I smoked em on Stockton last weekendat does suck, sorry to hear it.
smbasser Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Yes, we stayed near the dam. Had been catching them pretty good on jerkbaits and the a-rig the last few weeks but yesterday was just off. With the stained water and front, some days they just don't bite. Found the bigger shad and seemed to have fish around them on the graph, just no fish willing to commit. I'll be back, feel like I need some revenge
