Not to drag up a dead post, but wild bows have white tipped fins...hatchery trout wear the tips of their fins off in the raceways.

Yeah, but they grow back.

drew03cmc,

It is a small creek that runs through the east side of Neosho, MO. It runs along Morse Park. The city just built new walkways that go about a mile or so from start of the park to finish. It is a good time if you live local or are in town to visit. I don't know that I would book a fishing trip here just yet. The city needs to do some improvement to the whole area in order to get it more like the "trout park atmosphere" that they are wanting.

I would be UL spin fishing as I am considering selling the fly tackle...not enough use for it up here in KC. No streams w/o lots of brushy areas, and ponds with lots of brush...Spin tackle I can take ANYWHERE and catch fish...So, I will be down to fish Capps in a month or so, and might even stop by Hickory on the way home. Is the season closed at Hickory any time or is it open season all year? I don't keep fish, so I know it is catch and release on Hickory, but would love to fish Capps and get some advice on where to fish. Ollie...when would work for you? I have a month or so to wait till I have vacation time built up and for the baby to mature a little bit and momma to heal up.

Look forward to it drew. I have to work M-F so I only have the weekends to fish anymore. Actually, Sunday is the best day for me to go. There is no closed season on Hickory as far as I know. Hopefully we will get some more rain so the trout can be spread out more. They are very sucseptable(sp?) to netting from our brethen of southern descent if you know what I mean. That problem does exist still down on Hickory. Capps was actually looking pretty good a couple of weeks ago, but you never know in a couple of months. Just let me know when.

Do you spin or fly fish? I am guessing an 8'6" 5wt is too much rod for Capps. I have both, but I am guessing the UL spin would work best for that area. What would be a good lure selection to bring with me?

You don't have to ditch the flyrod if you don't really want to. I have seen guys using 8-9" rods down there. They had to roll cast everytime in some places, but they did alright. I strictly spin fish because that is all I care to do or want to do. I also jig fish and some people don't get into that so I don't really have many suggestions for you. Rooster tails use to do the trick until I mastered the jigs. I LOT of people use powerbait down there too. Sorry I can't help out much on lure selection, but I can show you some spots when we hook-up.

1/16, 1/32, 1/64? What sizes so that if I do bring a spinning rod, I bring something that will work.

Anything BUT the 1/16th size. Small creek and I normally don't go any bigger than 1/32.
