WHARFRAT Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Only have gone twice this year, but did ok both times. Once 2nd week of season, limited out on mallards, and today, fought the drizzle and rain. Shot these in an open ditch. For late season birds they were not call shy. But they were not "in yer face" shots. Probably last hunt this season. @lozcrappie
BilletHead Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Well done, We got big time ice here and after a not too bad temp tonight the next two nights it will be again in the single digits and we will freeze up again! This has been a crazy South Zone season so far. We have only hunted maybe six days of good open water. Jeff Olson Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Tried tablerock again yesterday am. beautiful morning! overcast and a light wind, but very few birds around. 1 shot and 1 drake gaddie. just nice to be out! anything been happening on lower taney? wont get out for a while now, as we heading to the frozen tundra ( WI. ) for the holidays. Merry Christmas to all, and to a Great new year. GOD BLESS!
JohnP Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Drove down the Y hwy this afternoon. Seen quite a few birds across from the scenic overlook and down by the old John the Diver blind. Also seen a few in the coves around Venice on the Lake down from Rockaway. A few in the cove down from Edgewater Resort, and just a couple in the Empire Park area to the Dam. Bull Shoals is on the rise quick and only seen one flock of about 20 geese in the mud flats below Shadow Rock campground and nothing from there to Barker Hole. Didn't get to venture any further down so that's all I got. With BS on the rise from the recent rain all the Corps flats should start seeing water in them which could get interesting if things start freezing up and snowing up north to cover up food.
