Anyone know why the gate is locked and closed to River Run? Noticed it yesterday and that some of roofs were removed off of the pavillions? Are they shutting it down or remoldeling or raising the campsite levels up????? Just curious, hadn't heard anything on the reason for closing it.

Probably closing it. I'm just guessing, but it gets flooded out about 1 out of 3 years with the lake level at 654. With the 5' raise they may think it will flood too often to keep open.

Isn't River Run the side that they just remodeled all around the boat ramp with chunk rock? Surely they're not closing it.

You could call the Mt. Home COE office and ask them.

Yup. They have never locked the gate except when the campground was flooded.

I don't know what they are doing, but as I said it flood more often now and that might be too much.

A buddy called the Corps office and after about the 3rd person he'd talked to he was told they closed it for the impending high water?????? Granted it won't take too much more to flood it but the ramp is still usable.

Not if it's gated!

That site is a little behind on the conservation level. the new level is 658 or 659, depending on the day, now. BS has been the stepchild in the chain and it gets any excess. it's also the choice to hold most of the water for the new release standards for the White. Last thing I read was that BS would store 3'. That is why they raised the pool 6'. I know that the math doesn't quite work, but I'm sure it makes sense somewhere?

I don't know what the sea level of River Run is, but I would guess it at close to 664 and if that's close they only have 5' to work with.

I finally got a return call from the COE about River Run today. I was told that the closure was due to needed electrical box repairs in the campground. They locked it up to keep the copper wire from being stolen.

The ranger who called me said that it would be reopened as soon as the repairs are done and it was reported that a crew was sent out yesterday but had not contacted Mt. Home about progress.
