Don't be afraid to try those eggs on other waters too!

My kid and I always fished eggs back at RRSP - and have used them in Colo, out here in AZ. My kid even gets good hits when fishing in the lakes - dropping an egg, and a slooow fingure rolling of the line.

We figure the trout are imprinted with a basic code that tells them this is food. The egg becomes a releaser, sends the signal to the brain telling the fish to eat. If these eggs were real and developed into fish - then there is more competation for food. Makes sense to remove the competation.

I agree AZ trout with what you are saying. I used to be against eggs, but if you want to catch big fish you better throw eggs because those big ones will take them all the time.

If you look at the egg Tim took a picture of with the yellow and red dot tied on the jig head. That is the one I have been using. I fished a little before dark last night right after I started this topic and they hit it every cast and all the way until dark. The only reason why I stopped fishing it was because I couldn't see my indicator anymore. All rainbows and the biggest one was 20 inches. I’m really having a lot of luck down past KOA in the stretch right before you get to the houses (lookout hole). I’m fishing out of my boat. But you could wade the same water I’m fishing in. I really don’t think it matters where you fish it. These trout aren’t picky right now I promise.

I’ll also be down there on New Year’s Eve. I will be down there to give my support and also help with casting, presentation, or if you just want to learn more about the river I would be glad to help anyone out. I can also bring my vise and tie up with anyone who wants to learn a pattern real quick.

How would fishing from bank with a spinning outfit work down there right now? I am off the rest of the week and thought about casting a line!

LMW; just in case Tim doesn't pick up on this post, his shop is Tim's Fly Shop (417) 847-4956. It located at the north entrance to Roaring River State Park on Hwy. 112. Right now, he's open Friday - Sunday from 10 AM to 1 PM. I know Tim also ships so give him a call or drop him an email at Timsfly@hotmail.com.
