Fished today above the gravel lot, first time to fish upstream from that lot. There was some kind of hatch happening when we got there about 11 am. Since I am new to fly fishing I can not tell you what they were. I started with a # 10 olive wooly bugger and caught one rainbow, tied on several other things I thought look like what was hatching, but no Luck. Then went to a olive scud and caught a dozen more over the next couple hours. My father-in-law was using power bait and some small rooster tails with no luck. Then another guy came up and gave him some shrimp and he caught six in the next hour. did not take any picture but will try next time we go .The water was clear and cool, but lots of moss. Great day to be out with the sun, temps and not much wind.

This is the time of year where there seems to be a lot of march brown mayflies hatching. Thats my observation from fishing there over the years even though I see them pop up almost all year

May be your father can try 1/8 or 3/16 oz blue fox inline spinner with sliver or gold color. It works better than rooster tails for me. I catch a lot on this lure.

Sometimes, I got the limit within half an hour. But sometimes, it doesn't work at all... if it doesn't work, I will change to powerbait...
