Alex Heitman Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Here is a couple pics from my graph. The fist one is from late summer and the last one is from late November. The first pic is the most shad i have ever seen at one time, They kept blacking out my finder. Did not find many bass around them though. Just a few really really deep under them. Could not get them to bite the spoon though. The next pic, I was getting ready to call it a day because it was getting dark and pulled up on this massive school of fish. I only managed a few spots and LM from the area as it was getting dark but I figured it was a bunch of whites with some bass mixed in. The next day I went back to the location and found they were not grouped up like before so I focused on the flats and ledges and caught a butt load of LM and spots. It just seemed odd that I didn't catch many that evening when they were in a feeding frenzy but I was able to pick them off the next day after they had dispersed throughout back of the cove. maybe there was so much bait I had no chance of them hitting mine because of there other options. Just would like to get some of your guy's thoughts on this. Can never lean enough on your electronics in my opinion.
Hazbin Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Most of the time when the light level starts getting darker it will kill the spoon bite.
Alex Heitman Posted January 17, 2014 Author Posted January 17, 2014 Hazbin, I was thinking the same thing. After I couldn't get many takers I picked up the wart and threw to the flat, the boat was in about 30ft. I had server all k's from that school come up and hit the wart right under the boat. I think the orange belly is what was triggering the strikes at twlight.
Hazbin Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Most of the time when the light level changes I am ready to go in. However, maybe we should paint up some florescent orange spoons.
Sprint21fter Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 At times when the light level changes it is hard to get a bite. However, if you are around them and they are in a feeding mode they will be the most aggressive fish to catch as long as you are throwing somthing with vibration. That has been my experience.
Alex Heitman Posted January 17, 2014 Author Posted January 17, 2014 Next time in that situation I think I'm going to throw a rattle trap and see what happens. I have been trying to throw a rattle trap more more after hearing some awesome stories about them.
