Floated this afternoon and it was a great day.did four miles from Bennett to NRO . Fun little float that I'd never done before.

I threw mostly meat all day hoping to pull good fish. I should have played the number game and nymphed all day but Oh Well.

Stopped for a good lunch.

Around 230 an Awesome little caddis hatch came off. I broke off a fish on a soft hackle and my girl had Two come unbuttoned on a stonefly. One we almost had but it got hung up on a log.

Within sight of the takeout this broke the skunk.

I got the veto on naming the canoe after that bad boy. I thought "bit o chub" had a Nice ring to it.

I did have one fish take an egg, but my egg selection is sorely lacking. I have two or three eggs in my whole box that are what I would call fishable.

Well either learn to tie an egg or..........................

Both work.

You want some help with the eggs let me know. Once someone showed me how to do it correctly it was really easy.

You did it at a great time. It's probably the most crowded river in the state in the summer. IMO in that stretch the trout are very much structure minded. They seem to gravitate toward breaks if they're available.

I'm beginning to question whether the egg fly is anymore effective than the YK2? I know the YK2 is hands down the easiest to tie.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Beads are way easier to tie. :have-a-nice-day:

Throwing streamers on the Niangua is a real hit or miss proposition, it can be productive but you need to drop the size of the streamer. I floated it yesterday and it was a little slow and the fish were not where they should have been. We did manage a few browns which was nice to see.

Did you have NRO run a shuttle for you? They did tell me they shuttled someone in a driftboat yesterday.

I fished your streamer from the Brown Trout swap and I think I was going a little big.

I'd like to do it again before the summer crowds get to bad, but I would rather float down to Barclay and just run my own shuttle with another car.

What color (eggs, beads, y2k's) do you guys usually fish.

Yea I had NRO do my shuttle yesterday. We floated down to Barclay. NRO is not allowed to drive your vehicle so it makes it a pain for them to shuttle you. You have to drive down to where your'e taking out and then they will pick you up and bring you back to the put in.

On the beads, orange, peach and red are what I use but I also paint them to get the look I want.

You're crazy. You already drinking this morning?

Not yet, but even I can tie a respectable YK2. I'm not talking about the beads you steal from your daughters, but real egg flies.
