Flysmallie Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 I've got a lot of work to get done on Thursday if I'm going to pull this off, but if I do I'm gonna be down looking for some fish on a dry. I'll be driving Wes the Fish Finding Taurus. He is grey in color, sporting a beautiful OAF bumper sticker (thanks Phil) and has a knack for finding water that holds fish. You wouldn't expect that out of a company car. Sure hope he wasn't built with a tracking device!!
tippet7 Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 last week and the week before, dries is what i caught the majority of my fish on. the very large majority. i was using everything from #20 BWOs to #12 elk hair caddis and stimulators. on the Elk hair and stims, i was using a #18 or #20 zebra midge dropper. i did catch some on them, but by far the dry strikes outnumbered the midges. You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
Whodat Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 I was down yesterday with my spining rod and rapala and caught 31 fish below the dam. My son came down about 12:30 and caught 15 or so. The fly guy's I was seeing down from us was catching very few fish. Not alot of big fish but was fun.
cpriest Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 i will be there tomorrow morn. what is a good time to hit the water? ill be driving from fayetteville so i wont get there too early though
Flysmallie Posted December 15, 2006 Author Posted December 15, 2006 Well my boss has screwed me again. Gotta a two hour conference call in the morning. Good thing I like him a lot or there would be problems! May try to make it an afternoon trip.
tippet7 Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 I fished yeaterday afternoon from about 330 until 515. I landed 4 and lost 6. one lost was a nice size bow. anyhow, i caught all of them on a #20 griffiths gnat above chute #1. there was a TON of bugs on the water yesterday. right around 5pm they stopped hitting the griffiths, wouldnt even rise to it. i am not sure if maybe it was too small as the light was fading pretty quick. i tied on a #16 adams real quick and had 2 rises but no takes. all in all....it beat the heck out of working the last couple of hours of the day! today we are taking an extended lunch and playing 9 holes at 1,000 hills. You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
