Terry Beeson Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 I thought this might be fun. I'm a big fan of Les Stroud in "Survivorman" and am not convinced "Man vs. Wild" with Bear Grylls is not staged. I think you put them out there under the harshest of conditions with NO CREW and Les would come out in better shape than Bear. No doubt Bear's "Special Forces" training will help him, but I'm just not convinced and have now started skipping his show. I'll watch Survivorman reruns... So... which show do you like better? Flysmallie Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 I've only seen "Man vs. Wild" once. It did seemed staged and I didn't like it as much as Survivorman. Les Stroud definately seems to be the stronger of the two. That guy will eat anything and he does it all by himself. I bet he would even like your viennie gravy!
MTM Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 That blonde on ESPN will eat anything to so that is no big deal. LOL You know the one I think it is Going Wild or some such program? As for the shows being talked about I do believe they are a little hokey myself. Ron
Terry Beeson Posted December 15, 2006 Author Posted December 15, 2006 Cindy Garrison.... Yep... she's da ma.... uh... WOman...... fer shure..... gonefishin Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 If I had to watch that stuff Cindy Garrison would certainly get my vote. I would rather be fishin'. jay bird Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 Les for sure, he is always talking about how safe you need to be out in the wild and how an injury could end your life. Then there is Bear who is always running down a steep hill, climbing a ciff, or something else that is more for show than anything else. I have hunted/fished in some fairly remote areas, where a broken ankle could be a life threating injury you can be sure I was not running down a step hill with loss rocks just for the fun of it.
RiverRunner Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 My vote is for Les. He's entertaning and I think that he's educational and gives real world advice that may come in handy for anyone that spends any time in the outdoors. He tells it like it is and he doesn't take chances just for the sake of the camera. The situations that he puts himself in are completely within the realm of something that could happen to a lot of people who visit and post on this forum. Basic survival skills are always good to have, esp in places like the Buffalo River country of north Arkansas. You never know when you may have to spend a night in the woods and hike back to civilization. I wish that they would make some new episodes though. Maybe something like dropping him into an unstable third-world country or something like that.
LostMyWife Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 I watch the discovery channel all the time and I have don't remember seeing any of these people. I guess the Deadliest Catch does not really count. Yes, I'm That Guy
Don Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 I don't have cable or dish, so I've never heard of these guys. However, I have read enough of Leonard's posts, so he got my vote. Don Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
