Members longviewbasser Posted February 17, 2014 Members Posted February 17, 2014 I live in longview mo and fish grand during the summer jug fishing for cats, but i bought a year licence this year and would rather try my luck on grand this spring and summer for crappie and white bass. I would like some info where i culd find them in the spring and summer. Thanks in advance.
Bird Watcher Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 White Bass - Spring River year round. During their run in the spring, just look for the boat parade up from twin bridges. Late summer dog days can be great down around Patricia Island too. Elk River is good too. Has a little later of a run than Spring River does and they will be on the flats below #10 bridge later in the summer. They are also in the Neosho River. All up and down. Honestly, it seems that you can close your eyes and cast and hit a white bass in the nose most of the time on Grand. The lake is loaded with them. Crappie - of course the easiest time is during the spawn. Pea Gravel banks 1-6' deep adjacent to channel swings on the main lake, coves that the channel goes past the mouth with pea gravel, same depth. Right now they can be deep down on the main lake, but they will start to transition soon.

Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 21, 2014 Root Admin Posted February 21, 2014 Hard to give you what would be working in the future- watch for reports closer to the "run". But generally you need to have a variety of colors of swimming minnows- smoke, chartreuse, white and purple are my go to colors. Rattletraps- I really don't use them but I'd say if they rattle they'll catch fish.
Members Mobud Posted February 25, 2014 Members Posted February 25, 2014 Head up Spring River from twin bridges about a mile. Try Shad Raps. No 5 my choice. Silver my best color. Troll and find Some fish. Use jigs, spoons or rattle traps and work area. Good luck
Members longviewbasser Posted February 26, 2014 Author Members Posted February 26, 2014 thanks im ready if the water temp would cooperate
Members Mobud Posted February 26, 2014 Members Posted February 26, 2014 Two best trips I had on Spring River were on July 5th and Jan 5th. Several years ago. You can catch them any time. I have been skunked a bunch as well.
