Lifes2Short Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Tried to put in at both State Park and Old State Park, both were heavily iced in. Drove over to Hawker and had plenty of open water. Fished jerk baits, finesse worms, jigs, and A-rigs.......not one bite till 2:30 when we found crappie on the bottom in 20 to 25 fow with shad on the bottom. Over the next 90 min. we ended up catching a limit of nice crappie and some huge white bass. We were fishing up against the ice in Old State Park Cove. By 5:15 this evening there was a path of open water almost all the way to that ramp. With the wind and warm temps tonight I don't think there will be any issues with launching there in the morning. I think that State Park will need one more day of warm temps before you can launch there. Watch for floating ice patches on the water!!! I have no idea where the bass were with the water being 33 degrees??? Find the shad and you will find the fish of some type. Tight Lines All!
Members stickbait Posted February 21, 2014 Members Posted February 21, 2014 Hey Todd, glad we went yesterday and not today. I would imagine that ice is somewhere around Ohio by now with todays wind.
