Hello all. I just moved to Kansas City from ohio. I'm hoping to get in on some river eyes. After searching these forums, for which rivers are hot and when, for the past hour I thought I'd ask and cross my fingers. I don't need any honey holes but before making a 5 hour trip was hoping you could steer me in the right direction! Any help?

There are three or four river run locations. White River below Tanneycomo, North Fork White River above Norfolk Lake, White River below Beaver Lake, and Kings River above where it enters Table Rock. The first two are most accessible to you, but I have never fished either. From what I have read and heard, both should be on the cusp of turning on. Hopr that helps.

Since you are in KC now, I would say THE best spot would be closest to you that RPS probably forgot about. The tailwaters below Truman dam is an excellent place to catch walleye along with anything else that is catchable in Missouri. It's a bigger river than the others and is kinda lake like. The other locations he meantioned are good spots to. I fish at the first location he meantioned quite a bit and find it unreliable from day to day, but they are definitely in there to be caught. Also the tributaries of Stockton lake can be quite hot at times for walleye, plus the length limit is 15 inches instead of 18

River runners want... a river. Some years a tailwater qualifies, but releases this year in Jan. & Feb. have been slow and irregular for the WR chain. The real rivers, while fairly slow this year too, are at least consistent, and have the potential for warmimg way quicker than the tailwaters. Don't rule out small, consistent tributaries in the upper third of any resevoir holding river spawners under these conditions, they can see better runs than the main channel if it's dead. There will always be a few in the likely spots, but the numbers end up where there's current.

I can't dance like I used to.
