Bassmaster21 Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Hit the water from 2-5 with a friend yesterday since the weather was nice. TONS of boats and kayakers out. Very crowded from 65 bridge to main lake. We fished where we could which was mostly just the banks on the river. I threw a smoke single tail grub an caught one short LM and my friend threw a spinnerbait and caught two sticks. Didn't see many folks catching fish. Wish I had a dollar for every Alabama rig I saw. Also saw a boat go by with a 15hp motor and I can't begin to describe how much that frustrates me. I guess too many folks today will break the rules until they are enforced as opposed to just doing the right thing. Who knows maybe they didn't know... I would have let them know if I could have though!!! (and probably not in the nicest way) Anyways the water temp. was anywhere between 45 and 50 depending on the depth we were in. Further from the dam we were the colder it was - which is to be expected with the water output there. If anyone out there is catching em and want's to share I'd be more than happy to hear. Cant wait to have some more success.
Members cReekFishin Posted March 10, 2014 Members Posted March 10, 2014 It's been tough the last few weeks. I went yesterday and only caught one on a spinner along the bank. I saw quite a few dead shad which probably isn't helping the fishing. Gonna try tomorrow. Hopefully it's a little better.
gurzik Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Went last night, and caught 7 LB in about 1 hour. Than a nice sheriff informed me that you cant fish the north side of the lake after dark. Took the boat out on Thursday. Had to break ice for about a hundred yards, but ended up with around 20. A mix of LB,spots, and 1 SM. All on a jerkbait, and rattle traps. Will try again on Thursday. Water temps. should be rising.
Members cReekFishin Posted March 11, 2014 Members Posted March 11, 2014 Went this morning with my brother. Wasn't great. Surprisingly the only two we caught were on top water. Caught mine on a popper and my brother caught one on a frog! Both about 15 inches. One thing I noticed about the two we caught, was that their tails were red and beat up. Possibly clearing beds? Wouldn't surprise me considering that the water temp was in the mid 60s on the north side of the main lake. Talked to another guy that said they were hammering a spinner bait early this morning and shut off later

I am new to Fellows Lake, I had the understanding that there was a 40hp max... Is this a typo or am I mistaken and need to adjust my search for a compatible boat? Members bigjigjim Posted March 11, 2014 Members Posted March 11, 2014 Nevermind, I realized that this was a Springfield lake report, not Fellows. I digress. "Big Fish get caught by opening their mouth." - Max Pruitt
Bassmaster21 Posted March 16, 2014 Author Posted March 16, 2014 Not a big deal. Happens a lot with the forum being a combination of multiple bodies of water. Creekfishin isn't it wild how springfield lake works? Out near the water output the temperature can be warm and bass can be in spawning phases and closer to the river they are still on almost winter type patterns. I wish there were more lakes in this area with hydrilla grass and shallow water action that this body of water offers. Especially during the warmer months! Hard to find that anywhere else without running a boat a country mile up a creek arm.
