hoglaw Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 What a rain. White river gauge went from 4' to 14' and appears to still be rising. When it normalizes all runs should be a full go. I hate when it all comes at once, but we were in dire need of current for the spring migrations in my opinion. Hopefully we get normal rain after this and not flash flood after flash flood like some years past.
Stump bumper Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Should be another good spawn year, with the big shad die off the bass might loose a little weight but should be more of them down the road. Could have done without the snow, really tried of the white stuff.
Guest Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 It just now crested at 18ft! LOL http://waterdata.usgs.gov/ar/nwis/uv/?site_no=07048600&PARAmeter_cd=00065,00060 Next week is sunny and warm for 5 days. All the mud lines & river arms should be full of fish roaming about. Kyle, I've got a good spot that will produce crankbait fish when it stabilizes. The muddy muddy water will start to clear on top after several days. Add a little wind and a 70 degree day...
Guest Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Lake jumped a foot and a half. Hows the little Sugar look at the golf course in BV? Im going to the Elk in a few days. Is there enough runoff to color up Windsor in the back?
JohnF52 Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Lots of muddy water entering the upper end of Beaver. Soon as it starts to clear at Hwy 45 in a couple of days, the White Bass run should be starting. ......unless we get another snow.....
Members LarryC Posted March 17, 2014 Members Posted March 17, 2014 We should be calling the White the Big Muddy the way it looks today. I bet the mud doesn't clear up till Monte Ne or maybe Horseshoe Bend. Making Beaver Lake safe for all the little fish...one striper at a time.
Members marknsaw Posted March 18, 2014 Members Posted March 18, 2014 The water seemed to be stained up at horseshoe this afternoon. Visibility was maybe 2 feet.
JohnF52 Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 It clears first at the river end, from Hwy 45 to Beavorama, due to relatively clear water running in as the river drops. Most of the muddy water seems to be coming from the West Fork, as usual. I suspect some illegal gravel mining somewhere upstream on that fork is making it worse than usual, as it was suddenly very muddy at 16 bridge last week without any rain. West Fork from about Greenland on down always contributes the majority of the mud due to clayey dirt roads and plowed fields right by the river. I wish something could be done about that, but it has been that way for many years. The middle part of the lake from War Eagle to 12 Bridge might stay very muddy for a couple of weeks, even with no more rain.
