The fishing was crazy!!! Day started off bitter cold but when the fish started biting it didn't matter. Reports from the tournament were all over the place - shallow to deep. It's March and the crappie have started feeling the urge to go shallow, however Sunday's weather may have curtailed that a little.

We caught our fish on deep brush piles in the main lake. Fished 25-35 feet of water, 14-18 feet deep. Best bite came on pink or blue jigs, vertical jigged. It was a feast or famine bite, they were either on the pile by the boat load or not at all. We had two limits in about an hour. We continued to catch and throw back another 50 plus keepers through out the day. If on the right pile it was nothing to catch 15-25 fish, if not on the right pile it was nothing, miserable! We had some quality fish, however most were in the 10" range. My tournament partner did have a 14" that weighed 1.65 lbs, big fish of the tourney. As this week warms they should start moving, March fishing is great however sometimes it takes a while to find them. Good luck on your quest and let us know how you do!
