JamiePatterson Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Thought I'd post up a report for our outing on wednesday... Fished the Jon's pocket area of the Little Red from around 9:00-3:00. The flow was increased from the 300-500 being let out during the dam repairs to around 2900cfm. This water increase was manageable, but a few hundred less cfm would have made it easier for a novice. We fished jigs -pj's and zigs and did well, landing 82 fish. Explored up above cow shoals and had a stretch where we were fishless for about an hour. Had anticipated catching a large brown, but the biggest was 18". I did miss one in the 4lb range -pulled the jig away to soon. All-in-all it was a fun day. People with aluminum duck boat style rigs should take advantage of the guaranteed flows and hit the little red while the water is constant. I hadn't fished this stream in 14 years and really enjoyed being on "new" water.
LittleRedFisherman Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 How long are they going to be releasing that 2900 cfm? That would be close to the same as 1 unit? There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
JamiePatterson Posted March 22, 2014 Author Posted March 22, 2014 The dam phone number says until the lake drops below 462ft. It was at 462.7 last time I called. The white is my river of choice, but fished the LRR because it's closer for a day trip -ran over there for a quickie. I'm near Fort Smith, and have an employee who was needing a fishing trip so we hit the closest place... I see you mention farming. I row crop farm in the river valley. Screen name used to be Arkie Farmer, but couldn't get the "forgot password" function to help me out and didn't want to bother phill
