Members showmebass Posted March 27, 2014 Members Posted March 27, 2014 I last ran up War Eagle and White River about a week ago. It was almost impassible with all of the drift, not to mention the minimal water clarity. Has anyone fished upriver this week? Just curious if conditions have improved any. I was on a really good crappie dock bite, but all of my docks had tons of drift/debris around them the last time I was down there.
hoglaw Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I didn't have any navigation problems above Blue Springs yesterday. I don't have to worry about logs and such, but my jet typically sucks up trash when the water is nasty. Water seemed to be in good shape to me, with some pretty good clarity up around the 45 bridge.
Members RiverFisher1 Posted March 30, 2014 Members Posted March 30, 2014 I trolled around the white (right before point 12) with various baits on the 29th. The water clarity is slowly getting better, next weekend should even be better if theres no downpours... Fishing wise I only caught 1 crappie, and saw no white bass or stripers surfacing. Still think the brownish water is affecting the fishing.
Feathers and Fins Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Stripers have already moved back down river look from Blackburn to 12 bridge islands, I aint saying anything else on them. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Members RiverFisher1 Posted March 31, 2014 Members Posted March 31, 2014 I don't think all of them migrated that way. I'm sure I saw some on my radar and from other contacts. Thanks for sharing your thoughts though!
Members petpipuppy Posted March 31, 2014 Members Posted March 31, 2014 Buddies and I were up the White on 3/30 nearly to Twin Bridges. Saw some on the flasher midway up from 412, but couldn't snag a bite. Still pretty murky, and smaller debris floating. Did get a nice Hog out of Brush Creek shallows on the way back down though. Water temp up to ~55° by mid-late afternoon. If they bit all the time they'd call it catching....instead of fishing...
hoglaw Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Probably not clearing any time soon with these intermittent rains. Last year my best day was April 15th for the whites on the fly rod. So hopefully we can catch a good week or so before the fun dies down. I hate these muddy water events. I'm in trial tomorrow so maybe I'll knock off early on Thursday and run up from twin some to find some clearer stuff. I hate it though because I feel like I know where the fish are, but the water is so dang muddy I can't fish them the way I want to.
hoglaw Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Bet today would have been decent but I played gold instead
