Members FrozenFingers Posted March 31, 2014 Author Members Posted March 31, 2014 I was wondering how the water would flow after a good rain. Now i know not to go out on a kayak after it rains. Thanks
Members Rick Baker Posted March 31, 2014 Members Posted March 31, 2014 It shouldn't be flowing too awful fast. Last time is was there I couldn't even tell if their was a current or back flow. I'm not going to make it in the morning. Not messing around with this cold front. Good luck if you go and be careful. There's a few log jams. And of course the water is still cold.
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 If we get the rain they are forecasting it should break things loose. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Members FrozenFingers Posted April 2, 2014 Author Members Posted April 2, 2014 Got to Taylors around 2 taday with one of my friends planning on fishing untill dark... well 10 minutes after we get there the clouds opened up for two hours. Fished for a while didnt catch anything, ended up getting soaked and the temperature dropped to 45. Being cold and wet we decided to head back home and wouldnt you know it when we got back the sun comes out. In the end not my best fishing trip. Hope to go back next week with better luck.
Members Rick Baker Posted April 2, 2014 Members Posted April 2, 2014 Hate to hear that. I had a similar experience. Crawled under my wife's jeep and got the plug then the filter off. Then it decided to open up. And wouldn't you know it if every single bit of water on the front of the jeep was pouring on me while putting the new filter back on. So I got drenched as well. I'm looking to get back down there myself. Hopefully this weather will be things gong. By the way what kind of kayak are you using?
Members Butthead Posted April 2, 2014 Members Posted April 2, 2014 Think I saw you on the water FrozenFingers. I got to Taylor's fairly early in the morning and stayed until the rain started. Fished from the bank on the east side from the bridge to about 1/4 mile downstream. Caught three whites and fed a bunch of jigs to the tree limbs on the bottom of the river. Probably about a dozen bank fisher-persons and two or three boats on the water and I yammered to many of them. One to three fish per person seemed to be about the most that anyone caught and most were small fish. One boat guy said he had caught a bunch last Friday, but not much today.
Members FrozenFingers Posted April 2, 2014 Author Members Posted April 2, 2014 Rick, my kayak is an Ascend FS10. Got it from bass pro last year. Ive had two flat bottom boats before this but always had to have a friend go with me if i wanted to get in the water. This Kayak is great for fishing has 3 places to put rods, a place to hold your paddle in front of you while your fishing, has a comfortable seat and its fairly sturdy. My Friend went with a cheaper one and is regretting it already.
Members FrozenFingers Posted April 2, 2014 Author Members Posted April 2, 2014 On a fishing note it shouldnt be to much longer before we get some bigger ones running should it?
Members Rick Baker Posted April 2, 2014 Members Posted April 2, 2014 Last time I was at Taylor's I came within 10 feet of a gentlemen in a gray ascend kayak before I could see him. He was getting out of the wind and I was concentrating on not falling in the colds water in front of my friends. I'm in a green wilderness 115. Saturday is looking like the next chance I will get to do some fishing.
