Members FrozenFingers Posted April 2, 2014 Members Posted April 2, 2014 It may be a bit of a drive for you but when the carp start running if you go to sac river bike trails just north of springfield on hwy 13 you will find tons. Just park in the parking lot or trail head then head west down to the water. If the carp are running you will see them by the dozens. Some very big ones down there to. I bowfish there and have very good luck if the times right.
oneshot Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Plenty of Carp and Buffalo in Pomme de Terre I caught these by the Dam. oneshot
Wayne SW/MO Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 There's some good access and fishing in the park at Stockton. There's a large gravel bar that extends out away from the camping area. Oneshot do the buffalo taste different than the carp? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Kayser Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 From experience, buffalo are clean white meat closer to a sucker, and carp are red meat closer to oiled mud. You can tell which I prefer, but I generally only find them in mud around here. Carp might be decent from a cleaner lake. WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
oneshot Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Yes Buffalo closer to Suckers. Carp cleaned right isn't bad. When I was a kid you could find Carp in the store and they had Pay Lakes where you could Buy Ticket and catch around 20 Pounds any over you had to pay extra. oneshot
oneshot Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 This here Carp was caught in 1972 at a Pay Lake just North of Boonville. oneshot

Yup. Carp and Buffalo were readily available anywhere close to the big river. Fee lakes were common and you either paid a set fee for a preset number of fish or you paid an entry and then by the pound. The set fees were generally $.50-$1. oneshot Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
