There is a lot of talk about the white bass on the Sac River fishing from the bank at Orleans and Taylor bridges, but what about Turkey Creek? Google maps shows what looks like a pull off that goes down to the river, right off of 215 where it crosses Turkey Creek. Have you guys fished for white bass there before? What were you thoughts on it? Any information would be appreciated.

I fish Taylor quite a bit this time of year and usually do pretty well, when everyone else does pretty well haha. I’ll be heading back that way in a few days and was wondering if I should try Turkey Creek or just check it out after I’m finished fishing at Taylor. I don’t have a boat or kayak so I’ll be restricted to the bank.

Thanks in advance

The back of Turkey Creek is a big, wide, long mud flat, without much of a channel. Far less flow than big sac or little sac. I'm not saying there won't be white bass there, but it wouldn't be in the list of the first 5 places I'd check. Still might be worth an hour....if you find them there you'll probably have them to yourself.

Here a Google earth picture of Turkey Creek at the 215 bridge in 2006 -- you can see the channel and the flats....

There is a road that comes of 215 about 1/2 mile west of the bridge. Walk down the road til it splits and then go left. That will turn into a path that goes up just down stream of a nice hole with a bluff on the east side. There is a beaver dam on the south end of the hole (underwater right now). Just below it is good as is that long hole with the bluff. It isn't great but stingers of 8 to 10 whites are usually the best you can expect. It will only last a couple more weeks. If they start dropping the water fast they will leave as well. Right after a good spring rain is good also.
