Members coloradofly Posted April 3, 2014 Members Posted April 3, 2014 I was planning on heading up the war eagle tomorrow afternoon, upriver from camp war eagle about 2 miles. I was wondering what everyones thoughts were on water clarity after the rain this evening? how much water clarity must there be to successfully catch white bass? I was thinking either hit up war eagle for whites, or prairie creek for stripers?
J-Doc Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Depending on rai fall, chances are ok. Cold front may shut them down. Better be prepared to use a small 1/2oz jogging spoon. If you find fish on the graph, drop to them and work the jig slowly just below the school. Small twitches of the wrist. No hookset jerks. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
Feathers and Fins Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 My first thought would be PC for stripers till 9am and then hit the creek mouth if its flowing good for kitties, they seem to gravitate there with the first spring storm rains. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
bferg Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 You have a better chance of catching them in muddy water than you do at the office! Just go!!
Members marknsaw Posted April 4, 2014 Members Posted April 4, 2014 I have a week off starting Saturday evening. I will fish the heck out of 12 Bridge to the Twin's. Horseshoe Bend #11 will be home base for the week. My partner in crime even mentioned fly wading below the Twin's at some point this week. I'll try to keep everyone updated, but I can't promise it. I'm really old school and don't have a fancy cell phone (I'll tell you the story as to why if you visit), but I'll do what I can.
hoglaw Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 You'll probably have to save the fly fishing for the end of the week. The river crested at 10 feet just a little while ago. That's about a 6 foot rise over where it needs to be. It will be very muddy for the better part of next week for sure. Richland should clear a little faster. Not really sure about War Eagle. It probably clears faster than the White. It's not that you need crystal clear water for fly fishing, but chocolate milk with an inch of visibility isn't going to make for a productive day. Once the river gets back down to 4 feet and change, the good shoals are shoals again.
1969Larson Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Fished Prairie Creek this afternoon from 4-6 PM and managed one striper on a sassy shad in pretty shallow water. The water was dingy and 52-degrees.
Feathers and Fins Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 52??? wow its dropped more than I thought it would. Were the shad catchable or were they still out deep? https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
1969Larson Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 I didn't see any shad on the shallow flats and the sun was pretty bright most of the afternoon.
